My writing slowed down a lot in the past two years. I know I’m not the only one. Some people dove headfirst into their work, while others—like me—found it hard to concentrate on anything. I’m only now starting to leave the miasma, but it’s still slow going.
So where’s the fiction? I’ve got a novella manuscript that’s done, or at least as close to done as I can get it on my own. It’s a bizarre dimension hopping fantasy that involves a giant toad and a betrayed general. Novellas are hard to sell, especially without an agent, so It might be one of those stories that gets trunked. Either way, I’m still glad I finished it.
I’m also 50k words1 into a sci-fi novel that is shamelessly slathered in a neo-noir aesthetic. It’s a pulpy adventure romp filled with drones, nanobots, and laser-axes. This is still the messy first draft, so it’ll be awhile until it’s done. But I’m chipping away at it.
All this to say I’ve been working on things, I just don’t know when, or if, you’ll get to see them anytime soon.
If you want to keep up to date with my writing and all other shenanigans, subscribing to Hello Void is the best way to do so.
I’m aiming for 90k words total.
